The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) requires that original lenders or debt collectors that report unpaid accounts to credit reporting agencies include the original date of delinquency that represents the “starting point” for the seven-year period when the account is removed. The NCAP prevented credit reporting of medical debts for 180 days.
